Itinerary

1
Islamabad to Muzaffarabad

Your journey begins from Islamabad as you travel through the picturesque Murree Hills and Kohala to reach Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. After hotel check-in and some rest, the afternoon is dedicated to an excursion to Pir Chinasi (9,500 ft), a revered viewpoint offering spectacular panoramic views of Muzaffarabad and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The winding road to Pir Chinasi is a photographer’s delight and a serene welcome to the mountains.

2
Muzaffarabad to Keran via Kutton and Upper Neelum

After breakfast, head northeast along the Neelum River, stopping first at Kutton, a charming settlement known for its waterfalls and terraced orchards. Continuing your journey, you’ll pass through lush landscapes to Upper Neelum, a small village that presents spellbinding views of the valley. The day concludes at Keran, a peaceful riverside village directly opposite Indian-occupied Kashmir, where the sound of the flowing river and chirping birds lull you into calm.

3
Keran to Sharda

Today, travel deeper into Neelum Valley toward Sharda, one of its most culturally significant and scenic locations. En route, you’ll pass charming villages and river crossings. Upon arrival, explore the ancient Sharda University ruins, remnants of a famed center of learning during Buddhist times. The serene riverside setting of Sharda makes it one of the most captivating overnight stops in the valley.

4
SDay Excursion to Arang Kel

Take a short drive to Kel, from where a chairlift and a moderate hike lead you to the dreamy hamlet of Arang Kel. Nestled on a lush green plateau above the Neelum River, this village is often compared to a living postcard with wooden cabins, wildflowers, and grazing horses. Spend time soaking in the majestic scenery before descending back to Sharda for the night.

5
Sharda to Muzaffarabad

Prepare for one of the most remote and stunning destinations in Neelum Valley – Taobat. Known for its pristine natural beauty, Taobat is located at a high altitude and offers some of the best views of Neelum Valley’s alpine landscape. The journey to Taobat is an exciting off-road adventure, where you’ll pass through thick forests, river crossings, and rugged terrain. Upon arrival, you’ll be immersed in the serenity of the place, surrounded by towering mountains, alpine lakes, and lush meadows. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect from the world and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.

6
Muzaffarabad to Shogran

Depart for Shogran via Balakot, ascending through the pine forests and winding roads of Kaghan Valley. On arrival at Shogran, transfer by jeep to the heavenly alpine meadows of Siri and Paye, where you’ll walk amidst wildflowers, rolling hills, and panoramic views of Malika Parbat—the queen of the mountains. Overnight in Shogran offers a peaceful retreat in the lap of nature.

7
Shogran to Naran

Drive through lush forests and mountain roads to reach Naran, a buzzing tourist town surrounded by high peaks. After hotel check-in and lunch, take a scenic jeep ride to the majestic Lake Saif ul Malook, a glacial lake shrouded in legends and encircled by snow-covered mountains. The lake’s mystical atmosphere makes it one of Pakistan’s most photographed natural landmarks.

8
Day Excursion to Babusar Pass

Today’s highlight is a full-day drive up the valley to Babusar Top (13,700 ft), the final point of Kaghan Valley before descending into Gilgit-Baltistan. Along the way, witness alpine landscapes, herds of yaks, and crystal-clear streams. The view from Babusar Pass is unforgettable, offering a majestic 360-degree panorama of the mighty Himalayas and Karakoram.

9
Naran to Islamabad

After breakfast, begin the return journey to Islamabad via the Kaghan and Mansehra routes, bringing with you countless memories, photos, and a renewed sense of awe for the natural beauty of Pakistan’s north.
