Arrival in Karachi

Upon arrival at Karachi airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

Coastal Birding in Karachi

Your adventure begins with two full days of birding around Karachi’s diverse coastal ecosystems. Explore the mangroves, salt pans, and sandy beaches at Sandspit and Hawks Bay, where flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, gulls, herons, and countless waders abound. A boat trip into the Indus Delta provides opportunities to spot the endangered Dalmatian pelican, Pallas’s fish eagle, ospreys, and flocks of migratory shorebirds. Evenings return to Karachi for overnight stays.

Wetlands of Haleji & Keenjhar Lakes

Today you travel to the freshwater wetlands of Haleji and Keenjhar Lakes — two of the most important wintering grounds for waterfowl in Asia. Enjoy the sight of vast congregations of ducks, grebes, cormorants, storks, and herons in a serene natural setting, perfect for photography and quiet observation. After a rewarding day, return to Karachi for overnight.

Fly to Lahore and Drive to Bahawalpur

In the morning, take a flight from Karachi to Lahore, then drive south to Bahawalpur — gateway to the Cholistan Desert. Overnight stay in Bahawalpur.

Desert Birding in Bahawalpur & Cholistan

Spend two days exploring the starkly beautiful Cholistan Desert, searching for hardy desert species such as the Houbara bustard, cream-colored courser, sandgrouse, and desert wheatear. Evening walks in Bahawalpur may reveal owls and nightjars under the desert stars. Overnight stays in Bahawalpur.

Lahore to Islamabad via Kallar Kahar & the Salt Range

Drive from Lahore to Islamabad, stopping en route at the scenic Kallar Kahar Lake, set amidst the Salt Range hills. Watch flamingos, grebes, and other waterfowl framed by the dramatic limestone formations, and explore this unique landscape before continuing to Islamabad for overnight.

Birding in the Murree Hills

Today you ascend into the cool, forested Murree Hills. Walking through the pine and oak woods, you may spot paradise flycatchers, crimson sunbirds, Himalayan woodpeckers, treecreepers, and the elusive Koklass pheasant. Return to Islamabad for overnight.

Margalla Hills & Rawal Lake, Islamabad

Conclude your birding adventure with a full day in and around Islamabad. Start in the Margalla Hills National Park, rich with woodland and scrubland species, and then visit Rawal Lake to spot ferruginous ducks, ospreys, sunbirds, warblers, and more. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
